Season To Date: 42-19

Denver Broncos (14-4) vs. Carolina Panthers (17-1): Denver did a great job of pressuring Tom Brady in the AFC Championship game.  There is no question that Von Miller and DeMarcus Ware are a handful to block.  However, the Broncos did not have to pay much attention to a feeble New England rushing attack.  Injuries at running back and on the offensive line caught up to the Pats against a strong defense on the road.

The Panthers bring a productive ground game and a big-play passing attack to Super Bowl 50.  There is more to defend with Carolina.  Cam Newton further strains defenses with his ability to run.  Carolina’s offensive line is better than New England’s.  The Panthers will be able to move the ball against Denver’s stingy defense and put points on the board.  They have done this all season long and the Super Bowl will be no different.

Peyton Manning has played well this post-season and avoided turning the ball over.  Carolina can be beaten deep, but Manning lacks the arm strength to make this happen.  Plus, Carolina’s stud defensive tackles will penetrate and make it difficult for Manning to step up in the pocket.  The “Sheriff’s” game features lots of short and intermediate throws.  Carolina’s linebackers defend the pass extremely well and force a lot of turnovers.  It would be a storybook ending for Manning to end his career with a championship.  However, the Panthers are a difficult matchup for him.  John Elway rode off into the sunset as a champion, but a dynamic ground game played a huge role.  Peyton Manning does not have Terrell Davis behind him and a terrific offensive line in front of him.

Carolina is the better team and Cam Newton is ready to lead his squad to a championship.  Denver’s defense prevents a total Seattle-like blowout, but Carolina wins easily.  Carolina 30- Denver 17.
