Season-To-Date: 29-32

The Rams have done a great job in the post-season of limiting their opponents ground games. Dallas and New Orleans were not able to run much against LA.  They both had formidable rushing attacks.  New England wants to run the ball and will be limited too.  The resurgent play of Ndamukong Suh has been big for the Rams.

LA has a terrific defensive line that can pressure Tom Brady up the middle.  Aaron Donald is the NFL’s best defensive player and demands a double-team on every play.  Suh has come on strong and the line is playing as Wade Phillips envisioned.

A key question offensively for LA is Todd Gurley.  The Rams’ super back only had four carries in the NFC championship game.  The only explanation for that is he was not healthy. Gurley will benefit from the week off and look for Sean McVay to feed him the ball a lot.  Gurley has all off-season to heal.  Jared Goff is at his best throwing off of play-action and Gurley’s play will set him up for this.

LA has some favorable match-ups, but New England is too well-coached for this game not to be

a close contest.  They also have a bunch of players that are clutch. All season long New England has fought back against the critics who said that their magnificent run was coming to an end.  They handily beat the Chargers and narrowly defeated the Chiefs in the playoffs.  Youth is finally served as the Rams edge the proud Patriots. New England’s Super Bowl upset win over the Rams in 2001 launched a dynasty.  The Patriots Super Bowl loss to the Rams in 2019 could very well signify the end of the most remarkable stretch of excellence in NFL history.

Rams 27- Patriots 23.
